The Outreach Team at the Howard University Center for African Studies invites you to the Spring 2019 Mwalimu Teaching Community Meeting and Workshop.
We will highlight the new Children’s Africana Book Award (CABA) Winners and focus on the two Best Books: Children of Blood and Bone by Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi and Sing to the Moon by Ugandan author Nansubuga Isdahl. Free CABA books will be distributed. Light refreshments.
- Teaching Artist Bomani Armah will guide us in writing a collective poem based on Sing to the Moon.
- Babaláwo Kọ́lá Abímbọ́lá Professor of Philosophy at Howard Universitywill speak about Yorùbá culture and how it is reflected in Children of Blood and Bone.
- Teaching Artist Anike Robinson will offer free henna based on Children of Blood and Bone.
