Free 2025 Books

Educators are cordially invited to the 2025 Children’s Africana Book Awards Ceremony, to be held at Howard University’s Myrtilla Miner Building on November 1, 2025. The first hour of the event (11:00 – 12:00 p.m.) will be reserved for young people to meet this year’s winning authors and illustrators and engage in book-related art activities (cotton spinning, making an autograph book, creating a masquerade figure). The Awards program will include a special performance by the dynamic Taratibu Dancers!

To support the event, we are offering complimentary books to educators in metropolitan Washington, DC. We encourage educators to share the book with their students and invite them to join us for this exciting celebration.   Tickets to the ceremony are free but registration is requested. Ticket registration will begin October 15th!
